Nov. 13th - Hayfield 34 -  Yorktown 6

Behind Senior RB Rayshawn Rigans' 200+ yards and three first half TD's, and a good defensive effort, the Hawks advance to the second round of the Regional playoffs.

Hawks defense comes up with four INT's (two by Hashin Sesay), two blocked field goal attempts and two fumbles recovered.

-

Junior LB Justin Marshall (#44) breaks through the line and blocks the Patriots first field goal attempt; Senior DB Nazril Islam (#26) picks up the ball and rambles 86 yards for the Hawks first TD, a great play for the Hawks and a demoralizing one for the Patriots. Hayfield's defense blocks a second Yorktown FG attempt. Marshall zeroes in on a Patriots ball-carrier. Hawks Senior Rayshawn Rigans (#8) uses a block from Junior split end Sean Townsend (#82) for a nice gain. Rigans takes it "to the house." Justin Marshall and Marshall Evans (#85) combine with a few other Hawks to bring down the Patriots QB at the line of scrimmage. It is Rigans once again as he gallops for another long TD.  Soph. RB. Steve Lynch (#7) gained 75 yards on 15 carries. Following some great blocking by the offensive line, Senior FB Fabian Fells (#24) breaks into the Patriots secondary.  Guess who?  Rigans is in the end zone for the third time in the first half. Soph. LB Anthony Wilson (#14) is elated after Junior DL Ryan Murphy (#57) comes up with a lose ball.  Sr. DB Anton McCallum asks for a timeout. A quite evening for Anton on offense but he still managed to scamper 35 yards for a TD; on defense he had one INT.  A "flock" of Hawks defenders converge on and bring down a Patriots ball-carrier.  Frosh. DB Wesley Scott (#4) lines up against a receiver; Wesley had a very nice INT.  Senior Co-Captain Carson Giammaria (#32). Senior DE Timmy Klintsevich (#81) helps bring down a Patriot runner. The story of the night as the three Patriots finally bring down Rigans after a long gain. Hawks defense attentively listen to coach Dowdell's instructions.  Soph. LB Craig Luskey (#20) is an integral past of the Hawks defense. Junior DB Hashin Sesay (#2) picked off two passes and recovered one fumble; Hashin's jarring hit in the end-zone resulted in an incomplete pass rather than a Yorktown TD.
