After a fast start, some tense moments late in the game as Hayfield holds off a determined Patriots squad.
Hawks defense picks off four passes. Big plays on offense by Senior all-purpose back Rayshawn Rigans helps lead Hayfield to victory. A very nice crowd on hand to cheer for our Hawks!

(L. to R.) A Patriots ball-carrier finds a gap in the Hawks defensive line and rushes for a first down in first quarter action. Senior QB Anton McCallum (#1) prepares to hand-off the ball off to Senior FAbian Fells (#24). Senior Rayshwan Rigans (#8) on his way to an electrifying 60 yard TD run in the first half. Junior DB Hashim Sesay (#2) prepared to jam a Patriots WR. OL Justin Sommers (#77) provides the lead block on this play. Sophomore RB Steve Lynch (#7) finds the going tough against four Yorktown defenders. Sophomore LB Craig Luskey (#20) came up huge for the Hawks defense as he picked off two passes, the last one with less than 30 seconds left in the game to secure the win. Junior Center Tai Choi (#65). It takes three Yorktown defenders to corral Rigans on this play. Junior Cody Whitlow (#5) makes a nice play on a kickoff return. Soph. DT Kelechi Adoma (#66) puts pressure on the QB. McCallum looks over the defense. Senior Co-Captain Carson Giammaria (#32). Another terrific effort by Senior DL Marshall "Montana" Evans (#85) who was a bit under the weather. Evans applies a bear hug to runner. "Hasta la vista" Rigans on his way to a 38 yard TD run in the fourth quarter. This TD extended the Hawks lead (and with the extra point made the score 27-19.) After giving up to TD passes in the second half, the Hawks defense stepped up their level of play in the closing moments of the game. Steve Lynch gets a solid hit. Junior LB Justin Marshall (#44) make a stop on this play. Alex Merino congratulates Tae Choi. (Video links courtesy of Digitalsports.com)
Notes and Stats: Rigans rushed for over 140 yards and is averaging two TDs a game. Great play on pass defense by Soph. Craig Luskey. Catch video highlights of the game on Digitalsports.com including an interview with Seniors Anton McCallum and Rayshawn Rigans. Craig just missed having another interception. McCallum now has three interceptions in the season. Marshall Evans continues to be a force on the front line for the Hawks. McCallum scored twice, the first on a one yard plunge and the second a short pass to Nazrul Islam. After taking a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Hayfield's offense committed a couple of turnovers which turned the momentum of the game around. Anthony Wilson's block of an extra point which would have tied the game was huge. Want to apologize to David, not Ryan, Cox for the error in the roster. Here David makes a nice play for the Hawks. Yorktown managed to block one of Tony Souphida's extra point; the strong legged Souphida is 18-19 on the season. Minimizing turnovers and capitalizing on opportunities will be a huge factor the remainder of the season for the Hawks. JN
