(L. to R.) Senior Marshall Evans (#85) and Soph. Anthony Wilson (#14) combine to stop the Lancers QB.  Senior QB Anton McCallum directs traffic; McCallum passed for four TDs and ran for a fith on the evening. Junior LB Justin Marshall (#44) brings down a Lancers ball-carrier. The Lancers terrific RB makes a sharp cut on his way to one of his four TDs. Hawks line blocking during an extra point attempt. Senior kicker Tony Souphida  (#13) nails one of his five extra points on the evening. Senior Rayshawn Rigans (#8) makes a Lee defender miss on his way to a long TD run after a reception from McCallum; Rigans had two TD's on the evening. Soph.Hayden Knudson (#6) and the Hawks hold the line for an extra point. A highly enthusiastic Hawks crowd did not throw in the towel after the team faltered early in the game and we can honestly say they played a role in the Hawks comeback. Soph. LB Steve Lynch (#7) closes in to make a tackle. Freshman Safety Wesly Scott (#4) looks for instructions from the sidelines. Soph. Kalechi Adoma (#66) has his paws on a Lancers runner. Hawks attempted an on-side kick with 26 seconds left in the game,,,it appeared that the Hawks recovered but after what seem line an eternity, it was Lancers ball.

Game Notes:  A number of players from both team suffered from cramps although it was a cool night.  Someone mentioned that the turf field had something to do with it for the surface is a bit harder than a dirt field. Interesting. After faltering in their first three possessions, Hayfield's offense took to the air to begin their impressive comeback. Congratulations to the Lancers and their terrific runnign back (#25). Not sure if the Hawks defense will face another one with so much talent this year. And speaking of talent, how about Seniors Rayshawn Rigans and Anton McCallum?  They put on a show in this game. All-purpose back Rigans is a huge threat after he catches the ball. He has great hand, strength, quickness, speed and is one tough football player. McCallum is simply a great athlete who never leaves the field.  He showed his 4.6 speed when he broke loose for a long TD. Junior WR Sean Townsend has pretty good hands and runs nice routes.  Keep an eye on him as the season progresses. The Hawks defense just could not adjust quickly enough to the cut-backs, particularly in the first half. They played better in the second half but allowed a long TD pass as wel as another long run for a TD.  A lot of kudos to the Hayfield fans for their great and enthusiastic support of the team. Keep it up. Hayfiel's offense generated more than 350 yards. Apologies to Soph. Hayden Knudson who in fact scored the Hawks last TD of the game on a pass from McCallum.
