Hawks Softball Update

Five Hayfield Hawks softball players were honored as 2009 Patriot All-District 1st Team selections. Also recognized was Coach Ron Giovannucci who was named Patriot Co-Coach of the Year. Jennifer Windau and Samantha Perry-Shifflett were also named to the 2009 All-District Tournament Team.

On Friday the Lady Hawks showed a strong offense, threatening the Lee goal numerous times.  Ashley Caroll scored two goals in a 2-0 victory on senior night.

Softball - Senior standout Jennifer Windau racks up career win #50 and establishes new Hayfield records!

May 2nd - Hawks Senior standout Jennifer set two milestones in the game against Lake Braddock today.  Jennifer broke the single season strikeout record for Hayfield softball today with her 187 strikeout and racked up her 50th career win in the team's 8-0 victory over Lake Braddock.  During her illustrious career at Hayfield, Jennifer has struck out more than 500 batters! A BIG THANK YOU to the parent who captured the moment and for the display of sportsmanship displayed by Lake Braddock.   The Hawks are currently 15-2 now  (11-1 in the District & have clinched at least 2nd place). GO HAWKS

Girl's Lax - Lady Hawks prevail in a nail biter over T.C. Williams, 7-6 (April 27th)

Great game.  The girls went ahead 5-1 in the first half against a strong TC squad.  TC came back to tie at 5 and again at 6, but the Lady Hawks prevailed 7-6 in a nail biter.

 A hard-fought match. Our girls were unable to cash in on several good opportunities, but they were able to hold T.C. to one goal during regulation and two overtime periods for a 1-1 draw.

Boy's Lacrosse vs. W. Springfield - Spring Break "Blues?"

Sr. Michael Ande (#19) and the Hawks found the going tough against the Spartans. Hayfield just didn't have their legs in this contest and it proved costly.

Hawks Softball Update!

Congratulations to the Hawk Softball Team on winning the Northern Virginia Spring Break Tournament.

Tough defense by the Hawks ruled the tournament.  The team went 4-0 over the weekend and are now 8-1 for the season.  The battery mates of Jennifer Windau in the circle and Samantha Perry-Shifflett behind the plate accounted for 42 strikeouts.  On offense, multiple hit performances were put in by Hannah Williams including a home run, Megan Perry-Shifflett, Laura Kirik, and Amber Fowler.
