Seven Hayfield Hawks gave it their all in the
2001 Super 44 football contest, held at the University of Maryland's
Byrd Stadium. Although Virginia's offense struggled throughout the
contest, stellar performances were turned in by a number players, in
particular DB Jason Howard and DT Floyd Wright. It seemed
as if their names and numbers were called all evening long. Playing
safety on defense and involved on special teams, Howard turned in a
tremendous performance, usually being the first player down the field to
make the play on special teams. Floyd Wright was nothing less than
spectacular on the defensive line, displaying his ferocity against some of
the best players from the state of Maryland. Other very notable
performances on defense were turned in by DE Ian Vincent and DB
Terrance Jenkins. The Booster Club wishes all of the Hawks which
participated in this contest the best of luck in all future endeavors.
